At Church on Sunday my daughter was happily coloring at the pew when my son informed us about some concerns he had with her activities.
"Laurel’s making a list of who she loves and she forgot Brent."
She spends many an afternoon playing with her little brother Brent so Lisa leaned over to double check this accusation. Lo and behold her list said:
People who I love
Elise
Mommy
Daddy
Byron
Lisa then, thinking Laurel forgot as most children might, let Laurel know about the omission receiving the hesitant response "I know." Lisa then said "Laurel, you can write whatever you want, but Brent and I will be making a list later."
I thought this was brilliant. Our kids, especially the older two tend to have serious reservations about being left out of anything. Kudos to the wife. Laurel mulled this over and started scrawling. She then proudly brought her amended list to Lisa and said "Look." The list now said:
People who I love
Elise
Mommy
Daddy
ByronPeople who are my friends
Brent
