I’ve been writing in various capacities for many years, but one type of writing has always eluded me: Books. So I decided to take the NaNoWriMo challenge and attempt to write a novel in 30 days.
NaNoWriMo?
Yeah, National Novel Writing Month. Write over 1,600 words per day for a total of 50,000 words (the minimum required to call a book a novel). I fell short at a little over 37,000 words, but it was still pretty cool.
What’d ya write?
I wasn’t sure what to write till I was surfing around for shows I could expose my preteens to and I came accross the Dark Crystal writing contest. It was the motivation I needed.
Didja win?
Nope, but that’s ok. It was my first attempt against experienced novelists and over 500 submissions.
Oh…um…
Wanna read what I wrote? It is a freshmen work and probably not up to the standards you are probably used to. I have optimized it for both desktop and smartphone reading. Click on the link below:
I hope you like it. It’s rated T for Teen.
